Spathe of C. scurrilis from type locality at Indragiri found

Hi all, my explorer friend finally found a specimen of the C. scurrilis spathe growing in the wild at the type locality within the Indragiri region. Click on the link below to see it:

http://cryptoandbetta.blogspot.com/2011/06/c-sucrrilis-type-spathe.html

Does it look like any of the current so called C. scurrlis specimens found so far which have been circulated? The pronounced collar seemed to be very distinct and the limb based colour is much lighter than that of the irregular outgrows (protuberances) resulting in it having sort of a polka dot effect. Nice?

C. scurrilis 'Indragiri Hulu Sumatra' update

I have not went for a field trip for more than a month (maybe will make a short trip next weekend to Sarawak?) and have not had any cryptocorynes blooming in my cultivation tanks so I have nothing much to update except maybe some photographs of the leaves of C. scurrilis 'Indragiri Hulu Sumatra' in my cutivation tank:

My explorer friend found 3 different looking types of specimens from around the same location then. Well they might be the same species or different, I can only know when they flower. They are planted in 3 different pots currently as shown below.

The 1st type has browner leaves with reddish underside.

The 2nd type has green leaves which are more elongated with greenish underside.

The 3rd type has green leaves with greenish underside.

I hope they will flower soon.....

C. scurrilis re-collected from type specimen's locality

Hi All,

My explorer friend went to Sumatra this week and managed to re-collect what is believed to be C. scurrilis from the C. scurrilis type specimen's locality around the Indragiri Hulu (Hulu means upstream in Indonesian) region in the Riau province in Sumatra. Visit his blog if you want to view the photographs and use the embedded translation tool if required as his blog is in Japanese.
